One of the most famous artistic images ever. Can you do the same thing for a packet of pasta, a bar of soap, a tube of toothpaste?

Choose your product carefully!

The choice of the Campbell’s soup can was not an arbitrary one. It is colorful and lends itself easily to being drawn and painted. Examine the colours and shape of your product and its packaging.

Start with preliminary sketches in your workbook then using those, plan for a large painting of your chosen product or brand.

Take special care in drawing the letters and or numbers. Examine the font.

You should have at least 4 preliminary drawings in pencil.

You may wish to do some large drawings in charcoal before starting the painting. You may also use a mixture of charcoal chalk and paint.

Renaissance Games and information

Follow these links to play some Renaissance games from our ex history teacher Mr Wrights blog and find out more about the Renaissance...

http://ismhistory.awardspace.com/bigrenaissancequiz.html

http://www.learner.org/interactives/renaissance/

Renaissance Book Cover.

You need to start thinking about the front cover of your renaissance book. The environment can mean the natural environment or our man made environments. Students will be given the challenge to produce a piece of art using Milan as a starting point and stimulus.

Here is the information Mr. Kerr will give you to help you get started.

Milan and our Environment. How to get started.

What does “environment” mean? Look it up in the dictionary.
What kind of environment do you think might be good for the Milan council building art work to feature or be based on? Why? Look at artists who have worked on this theme before. Steal their ideas! Make a visual resource in your workbook of artwork featuring different kinds of environments, for example: ·

Interiors · Natural environments · Forest · Scrubland · Mountains · Desert · Seas and oceans · Pasture, grasslands and savannah · Jungle and rainforest · Man made and urban environments · Cities · Towns · Villages

Find pictures of different kinds of environments in newspapers and magazines. Use these for your visual resource in your workbook.

Look out of the window. That’s Milan!!

Start looking at the city you live in. Find pictures of the environment in and around Milan. What is Milan famous for? Which landmarks do we recognize in Milan? How could you add these into your artwork without making it banal?

Homework

Bring in newspapers (must be newspaper no magazines!!) which have pictures showing cities, the Corriere della Sera is a good one.

Bring in a spoon!

Roy Lichtenstien

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5177197056939268722" style="DISPLAY: block; Andy Warhols Campbell’s soup can.

Challenge.

Take an ordinary everyday product that your family buys and uses and turn it into a work of pop art.

Andy Warhol took an ordinary soup can and turned it into an icon of 20th century art. One of the most famous artistic images ever. Can you do the same thing for a packet of pasta, a bar of soap, a tube of toothpaste?

Choose your product carefully.
